SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs played their first back-to-back set of the 2025-26 season on Monday night, easily handling the Toronto Raptors 121-103 at the Frost Bank Center to remain undefeated.

Why it matters: With the victory, the Spurs improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2017.

“I think our half court defense was pretty dang good all night,” Spurs Head Coach Mitch Johnson said. “To hold that team to 103 [points] is a pretty strong performance from those guys as a group.”

Here are some grades from the Spurs’ win over Toronto:

Victor Wembanyama: A

Every possession seems to center around him. Wemby didn’t just block paths to the rim; he terrified Toronto out of even driving there, so scared that he only had one block on the night.

Offensively, he picked his spots and punished mismatches with ease. There’s still refinement ahead, but the trajectory looks like it can only go up from here.

Stephon Castle: A-

Castle plays like he’s been in this league for years, not just one season. He attacked closeouts, scored through contact and slithered into the midrange. The poise is what stands out: every move felt intentional, never rushed. Very dangerous.

He gets an A- because despite his solid performance with 22 points, he still turned the ball over five times.

Devin Vassell: B+

Vassell provided the electricity that kept the whole place arena loud and the players energized. Timely scoring, calm decisions, sneaky defense. He’s become the straw that stirs the drink of the roster. His night didn’t demand ball hogging, but the performance was essential to how clean the offense looked.

Up next:

The Spurs are now 4-0 on the season and will return to the court on Thursday for a tough test against the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m. from the Frost Bank Center.
